NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN ITALY
Stalle Lunghe Residence - Pratonevoso Ski Resort
|
|
Pratonevoso is one of Italy’s
relatively new ski resorts and is located in the Italian
Alps approximately 60 km from the French Riviera and
the Mediterranean coast. The nearest international airports
are Turin (50 miles), Genoa (70 miles) and Nice, France,
(50 miles).
|
AREA DETAILS
Although relatively unknown, Pratonevoso has been operating as a ski resort since 1965 and has some nice terrain that will please intermediate skiers and bring a smile to the face of all novices.
It
is an area with a good annual snow record with heavy
snowfalls throughout the winter months. Pratonevoso
is becoming more and more well-known with heavy investments
having been made since 2001, to re-launch this young
tourist resort.
Priority was given to boost and to rationalise ski facilities and to the production of artificial snow; then works proceeded with the construction of an extraordinary night lighting system that lights up two slopes. |

 |
|
Particular care has also been given to snow-boarding facilities: in 2003 the snow-park of Pratonevoso was chosen for the Junior World Championship.
Furthermore,
for children (and especially for their mothers) Pratolandia
was created, a well frequented play-group with ski instructors
and a wide range of facilities so that children can
play and enjoy themselves while their parents relax.
Other investments made have been
to improve accommodation capacities. This has come about
by the creation of a new hamlet formed by thirty chalets,
with shops and facilities built around a large square,
along the old street where the cattle-sheds once stood.

The name of this new mountain village is Stalle Lunghe (long cattle-sheds) in honour of the past and of the experience of the farmers who inspired its detail. It is formed by stone and wooden houses, wooden terraces on sight, support structures to stop snow falling from the roof, underground garages with direct access to the chalets.
The first chalet has been completed and the apartments handed over to the proprietors at Christmas 2003, others were handed over during the summer, and the latter part of 2004, and so on. |
